CHOLPON-ATA, KYRGYZ REPUBLIC (25 - 26 SEPTEMBER 2018)

The get-together is organized by the CIS ATC with a support of the State Committee of National Security of the Kyrgyz Republic (KR SCNS).

During the get-together outcomes the first stage of the joint anti-terrorism exercise of the competent authorities of the CIS member-states "Issyk-Kul Antiterror-2018" were made, the second and third stages of the exercises were carried out which included:

- an anti-terrorism operation at the transport facility with participation of the Special Purpose Service units of the Kyrgyz SCNS and special units of the Kyrgyz Interior Ministry;

- demonstration of the Kyrgyz EMERCOM actions to minimise terrorist attack consequences;

- conduct of a joint tactical operation by the units of the Kyrgyz and Russian armed forces with engagement of the Russian aviation group in order to block and eliminate a large armed terrorist formation which have penetrated through the Kyrgyz border.

The event also included an extended meeting of the Scientific and Advisory Council at CIS ATC.
The opening of the get-together was attended by: Head of CIS ATC A. Novikov, Kyrgyz SCNS Chair I. Kadyrkulov, Kyrgyz Vice-Prime Minister Zh. Rozakov, Secretary of the Kyrgyz Security Council D. Sagynbaev, Kyrgyz Minister of Interior K. Dzhunushaliev, Commander of troops of the Central Military District of the Russian Armed Forces A. Lapin.

In his opening statement Colonel-General of Police Andrey Novikov noted that in the course of elaboration of the plot of the Issyk-Kul Antiterror-2018 exercise a decision was made to focus on the key problems which as agreed with the partners pose a real threat to security of both the Kyrgyz Republic and the Central Asian region in general (click here for full statement).

Among the threats we see the attempts of international terrorist organization ISIL to create a new stronghold of the so call caliphate in the territory of the region, to form and stimulate the already created "sleeper jamaats," the CIS ATC Head said.

A two-day event brought together delegations of the State Security Service of Azerbaijan, National Security Service and Ministry of Defence of Armenia, State Security Committee of Belarus, National Security Committee and Ministry of Defence of Kazakhstan, State Committee of National Security of Kyrgyzstan, Federal Security Service, Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Defence, Prosecutor General Office, National Guard of Russia, State Committee of National Security of Tajikistan, National Security Service of Uzbekistan, CIS Executive Committee and branch cooperation bodies, including Coordination Service of the Council of the Commanders of the Border Forces, Office for the Coordination of the Fight Against Organized Crime and Other Dangerous Types of Crime on the Territory of CIS member-states, Coordination Council of the Prosecutor Generals, Secretariat of the Council of the Defence Ministers, Council of the Heads of Penal Services, Council of the Heads of Financial Intelligence Units, Interstate Aviation Committee, as well as RATS SCO Executive Committee, CTSO Secretariat, and Central Asian Regional Information and Coordination Centre for Combating Illicit Trafficking of Narcotic Drugs, Psychotropic Substances and their Precursors (CARICC).
