A security operation of the joint anti-terrorism exercise Dushanbe Anti-Terror-2017 of the CIS competent authorities will be launched at the get-together of the senior executives of the anti-terrorism units of the security agencies and intelligence services of the CIS member-states on 31 May 2017 in Dushanbe, Republic of Tajikistan.
The action review of the first stage of the exercise conducted on 23-26 May this year by the security agencies and intelligence services of Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia and Tajikistan with the coordinating role of the CIS Anti-Terrorism Centre will follow by a counter-terrorism operation at a key infrastructure facility carried out under the leadership of the State Committee of National Security (SCNS) of the Republic Tajikistan on 31 May.
Special forces unit A of the Tajikistan's SCNS with the support of the Ministry of Interior will practise joint actions to release hostages and neutralise simulated terrorists who have committed armed takeover of the Republican TV-Centre in Dushanbe and plan to use it to incite the radical part of the Republic's population to active actions, situation destabilization and toppling of the constitutional system.
The Tajikistan's EMERCOM units will demonstrate actions to minimise consequences of the conducted counter-terrorism operation. A joint tactical operation to block and eliminate large armed terrorist groups which have penetrated a state border of the Republic of Tajikistan will be a final chord of exercise “Dushanbe-Anti-Terror 2017”. The united military group will include units of the Ministry of Defence, National Guards of the Republic of Tajikistan, assets of the Central Military District, 201st Russian military base deployed in the Republic of Tajikistan, as well as specially created for the exercise an aviation group of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. It is be for the first time in the history of anti-terrorism exercises of the Commonwealth that Russia’s Iskander-M tactical ballistic missile system specially moved to Tajikistan in advance will be engaged to solve training tasks.
The joint anti-terrorism exercise Dushanbe Anti-Terror 2017 is carried out in accordance with the current Program of cooperation of the CIS member-states in combating terrorism and other violent manifestations of extremism for 2017-2019 and is aimed at increasing readiness of the security agencies, intelligence services and other uniformed bodies of the Commonwealth member-states to jointly counteract terrorist challenges and threats. It is the second exercise conducted by the CIS Anti-Terrorism Centre in the Republic of Tajikistan.
In 2002 the exercise South Anti-Terror-2002 was carried out in Kulyab and Dushanbe.
