The CIS ATC’s delegation led by its head Evgeny Sysoev took part in the 90th meeting of the Council of Commanders of the Border Troops (SKPV) in Moscow on May 28, 2025.
The event was attended by delegations of the border agencies of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Republic of Armenia, the Republic of Belarus, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Russian Federation, the Republic of Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and the Republic of Uzbekistan, the CIS Executive Committee, the Bureau for the Coordination of Fight against Organized Crime and Other Dangerous Types of Crimes in the Territory of the CIS Member-States, the Committee of Heads of Law Enforcement Units of the Council of Heads of Customs Services of the CIS Member-States, the Council of Defense Ministers of the CIS Member-States, the Coordination Council of Prosecutors General of the CIS Member-States, as well as the CSTO Secretariat and the SCO RATS Executive Committee.
The meeting participants assessed the situation developing on the external borders of the CIS member-states, the progress of joint special border operations in 2025 and their organization in 2026.
The Council of Commanders of the Border Troops approved the draft Basic Principles of the Information Policy of the CIS Member-States in the Border Sphere and decided to submit the document for consideration by the Council of Heads of CIS States under the established procedure.
The CIS ATC’s head made a statement on the situation in the field of countering terrorism and extremism in the CIS, highlighting key factors influencing its development. He positively assessed the long-term cooperation between the CIS ATC and the SKPV, especially noting interaction in interstate search for wanted resulted in detention of 131 persons involved in terrorist and extremist activities in 2024, as well as joint mastering of skills to prevent cross-border movement of terrorist fighters as part of anti-terrorist exercises. The meeting concluded with adoption of fourteen decisions intended to further strengthen border security on the external borders of the Commonwealth and expand multilateral border cooperation.
